Arizona State Sun Devils Unveil "Roses & Devils" Throwback Uniforms for 2026 Season
Arizona State University's Sun Devils football team has officially released its new "Roses & Devils" uniform set, a special throwback design created by adidas. The look honors the 1986 squad that captured the school's only Rose Bowl championship, defeating Michigan 22-15 on January 1, 1987. The 2026 season marks the 40th anniversary of that historic achievement, making the release a fitting tribute.
Design Highlights: Classic 1980s Style from Head to Toe
The full uniform set revives the mid-1980s aesthetic while incorporating modern maroon tones for cohesion with today's program identity. Primary colors are gold, white, and maroon.
Helmet: A gold shell with a white facemask features the classic full-body Sparky decal, distinguished by a thicker white outline than the modern version for a vintage feel. Running down the center is a five-stripe maroon-and-white pattern—a bold maroon stripe in the middle, flanked by thinner white stripes and outer maroon stripes.
Jersey (home maroon version): Traditional maroon base with "Arizona State" in simple white lettering across the chest. Numbers on the front and back appear in gold collegiate block style with a white outline. Sleeves carry a three-stripe horizontal pattern (white-gold-white), and player numbers also sit on the shoulders in the same classic style. A unique modern addition is a small leather Sparky patch on the back collar; the reverse side is embossed with "1987" and three roses, celebrating the Rose Bowl victory (this detail was not on the original uniforms).
Pants: Gold pants feature the same maroon-and-white five-stripe pattern running down each side, creating a consistent head-to-toe look.
The design stays true to the 1986 originals in overall character while updating the red shade to the program's current maroon for better visual harmony.
Fan Replica Jerseys Now Available
